Why Professor Happy?
The only constant in the world is change. Because of rapid advances in technology, two thirds of children are expected to get jobs in later life that do not even exist today.
Technology has had many positive impacts on society, but many young children are using social media and video games as a place to hide from reality. This negatively impacts on their ability to think autonomously and make good decisions in later life. Traditional institutions are not giving them the tools that they will need to face these challenges.
Grow creative confidence
Your child may already be an expert at giving the right answers and following instructions. That will enable them to pass exams, but as an adult they will need to be confident to ask their own questions and make decisions. Without those skill that will not make progress beyond those routine jobs that robots are gradually replacing.
Instead of giving children answers and instructions, the Professor Happy program teaches them how to think; critically, creativity and collaboratively. Each activity introduces a new and fun challenge. Through hands-on activities, children discover their strengths, build their confidence and learn to solve problems creatively.
Challenge and focus
Video gaming and social media technology addiction can damage your child’s mental and physical health.
Research demonstrates that prolonged gaming can negatively affect impulse control through dopamine release, and can even affect the frontal cortex of the brain in a way similar to the effects of cocaine ( S. Raja Surya &I. Sivakumar , 2022).
The control of attention from social media has led naive and insecure children, teenagers and young adults to doubt their self-worth and lose their sense of trust and responsibility. Young people lose themselves because they don’t know what they value anymore and because their attention has been intentionally and persistently hijacked by social media companies (Vallor,2015).
Becoming more self aware is a practical and productive solution. It can begin the transformation towards generating your own creative energy and the gift of being in a state of flow - being totally immersed in reality as much as you would be in the gaming world.
Developing self-awareness
Self-aware people do not only follow the values of parents, the group, education systems, or the values promoted by video games, social media and tech gurus but actual intrinsic values which motivate the unique individual.
Where or what is your true North? You can find out through conversations, philosophical inquiries and with conundrums sessions, expressing yourself and communicating in a safe environment with curiosity and without judgment.
Traditional schooling is daunting to some children and has not anticipated the way we live today or the future challenges your child will have to navigate. In a world where digital information and stimuli are ubiquitous, and where artificial intelligence has replaced human administrators, the holistically educated, self-aware children of today will stand out as the leaders of tomorrow.
